About
Halicho Marine was founded by Harrison Smith to provide specialist scientific analysis of grey seal vocalisations and passive acoustic monitoring datasets.

Coastal and offshore context
Halicho Marine connects marine ecology, passive acoustic monitoring and environmental consultancy to support practical decision-making.

Founder
I am a marine biologist, offshore renewable energy specialist and marine environmental consultant working at the interface of ecology, acoustics, data science and consenting.
I hold a First Class BSc in Marine Biology and an MSc in Offshore Renewable Energy from the University of Plymouth. My experience includes offshore renewable energy, marine environmental assessment, passive acoustic monitoring, seal acoustic datasets, stakeholder engagement and applied machine learning workflows.
My specialist work focuses on underwater grey seal vocalisations: manual annotation, spectrogram and audio review, call-type structure, statistical analysis, environmental relationships and careful ecological interpretation.
Evidence-led, cautious and transparent. Claims are limited to what the data can support.
Modern computational workflows are used to improve scale, consistency and efficiency.
Outputs are designed for real monitoring, assessment and consenting contexts, not just academic interest.
Halicho Marine exists to bridge the gap between underwater acoustic data and ecological evidence that clients can use.
